Kilis is located in the Southeastern Anatolia region, in the southwest part of the Gaziantep Plateau extending between Hatay-Maraş line and Euphrates River in the Turkey-Syria border. The city is located on the transition zone between Mediterranean and Southeastern Regions.

The museum, consisting of two separate sections, was previously used as a mansion. It was transformed into a museum as a result of restoration works.
Ravanda Castle, located in the village of Belenözü, is an area where different structures are thought to be belonging to the Hittite period. But there is no information about when they were made and by whom they were made.
