Denizli Province is located in Aegean region. Denizli is the largest city in Aegean region after İzmir, with its central population exceeding 500 thousand. Denizli is one of the largest and most developed sixteen cities of Turkey. Denizli, which is an industry, export and trade center, is also a university city with over thirty thousand students. Having hosted millions of domestic and foreign tourists in a year, Denizli is a tourist city, as well as a center of education, congress, culture and art with local, national and international events (see Festivals). Center of Southern Aegean Development Agency (Geka) is also Denizli.

Travertines of Pamukkale

Travertines in Pamukkale district of Denizli province are very important for tourism. The remaining carbonate minerals from the streams constitute a spectacular visual feast. The travertines also include the thermal springs in Pamukkale. Pamukkale Travertines, which are included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO, is a popular destination for tourists.

Ancient City of Tripolis

Located within the borders of Buldan District, this ancient city is approximately 40 km away from the city center of Denizli. First name of the ancient city of Tripolis, known to belong to Lydian Period, was known as Apollonia. The name was changed to Tripolis in the Hellenistic period.
